NANS Demands Probe into Gombe Fertilizer Distribution

From: John Musa

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Gombe State Chapter, has raised concerns over the distribution of the 2024/2025 fertilizer by the Gombe State Ministry of Agriculture. Reports indicate that there are irregularities in the allocation process, which has sparked worries among students, farmers, and community stakeholders.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Gombe State Chapter, demands an immediate and thorough investigation into the fertilizer distribution exercise. The alarming irregularities, including diversion, hoarding, favoritism, and lack of transparency, undermine the trust of the people and sabotage government efforts in boosting agriculture and ensuring food security.

We call on His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, to take swift action and bring those found guilty to book. Failure to act will lead to peaceful mass protests by Nigerian students across Gombe in solidarity with farmers and the general public.

NANS has warned that it will mobilize for peaceful demonstrations if the state government fails to address the issue. The association is committed to defending transparency, fairness, and justice through every lawful means available. NANS urges the Governor to prioritize accountability and ensure that fertilizers reach genuine farmers at the right time and affordable price.

NANS Demands Probe into Fertilizer Distribution – Warns of Mass Protest if Irregularities Persist

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Gombe State Chapter, has observed with serious concern the questionable activities surrounding the distribution of the 2024/2025 fertilizer by the Gombe State Ministry of Agriculture.

Reports reaching us from students, farmers, and community stakeholders reveal alarming irregularities, including diversion, hoarding, favoritism, and lack of transparency in the allocation process. This act undermines the trust of the people and sabotages government’s efforts in boosting agriculture and ensuring food security.

We therefore demand an immediate and thorough investigation by His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, into the fertilizer distribution exercise. Those found guilty of sabotaging this process must be exposed and brought to book without delay.

NANS wishes to sound a clear warning: if the state government fails to act swiftly, Nigerian students across Gombe will have no option but to mobilize for peaceful mass protests in solidarity with the farmers and the general public who are the direct victims of this injustice.

As the voice of the Nigerian students, we cannot fold our arms while corruption and mismanagement deny our people access to essential resources meant for their welfare and survival.

We call on the Governor to demonstrate leadership by prioritizing accountability and ensuring that fertilizers reach genuine farmers at the right time and affordable price.

NANS stands for transparency, fairness, and justice—and we are fully prepared to defend these values through every lawful means available, including peaceful demonstrations.
