BEING A SPEECH DELIVER BY MALLAM AYUBA HASSAN ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 12TH AUGUST 2025 THEME: LOCAL YOUTH ACTION FOR SDGs AND BEYOND.
Protocols:
Distinguished guests, my dear vibrant and energetic youths, guest speakers, members of the press, ladies and gentlemen as we gathered here today it is my profound honor to address you on this day where where young people across the globe gather not just for to celebrate but to crossbreed ideas for the progress and development of the young people.
As the theme of 2025 International Youth Day unveiled by the United Nations Youth "Local Youth Actions For SDGs And Beyond"
Localizing the SDGs refers to the process of adapting and implementing the global goals within specific local context, aligning with community needs while maintaining consistency with national and international commitments. This approach is vital to ensure that development is inclusive, participatory, and sustainable. When young people are empowered to engage in this process, they become catalyst for innovation and resilience in their communities. This year's theme focuses on the power of young people in localizing the Sustainable Development Goals and turning global commitments in to local realities.
It is pertinent to remind us that the history of Nigeria and of course the world cannot be completed without mentioning the courageous and outstanding contributions of youths. Young people are not passive recipients of National or International policies; they are active agents of change, innovators, and key stakeholders in Nation building. Nigeria has one of the largest youth populations in the world, our energy, creativity, and sheer numbers represents an unparalleled resource for national and international development.
John F Kennedy said in 1960 "A society whose young men and women are in constant state of slumber, will never realize her potential." Our young people must wake up! It's only the day that we wake we will be able to send a clear message to those in position of leadership that you cannot continue to misgovern us.
On this special day we're sending a profound gratitude to the advocates of youth development across the world and thank Chief James Ume Founder/COE Unubiko Foundation for empowering the African Youths, Rep. Jafaru Gambo Leko for engaging the youths in his leadership, Mallam Musa Umar Yashi Executive Director Humanitarian Affairs NEDC for supporting progress and development of the youths and the Honorable Minister Of Youth Development for his digital innovation and building the capacity of the Nigeria youth in the eyes of the world.
God bless Nigeria Youth!
God bless African Youth!!
God bless Global Youth!!!
Happy International Youth Day 2025!!!!
Signed:
Comrade Ayuba Hassan,
