Arewa Youths Decry Unprovoked Attacks on Abubakar Malami, ADC Leaders
From : Mustapha Abubakar
The Arewa Youths Advocate for Peace and Unity Initiative has strongly condemned the recent attacks on former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, and other leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition. The group described the attacks as "unfortunate" and urged the public to disregard the statements made by Presidential Adviser on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala.
In a statement issued by the National President Sani Danaudi Mohammed on Thursday in Kaduna, the Arewa Youths Advocate for Peace and Unity Initiative condemned the recent attacks on former Minister Abubakar Malami SAN and other leaders of the African Democratic Congress coalition, describing them as unfortunate and urging the public to disregard the statements made by Presidential Adviser Daniel Bwala, which they deemed laughable and lacking in merit.
The Arewa Youths expressed disappointment at Bwala's comments, which they said were not only uncalled for but also lacked merit. Bwala had reportedly described the coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as "death on arrival," but the Arewa Youths dismissed this claim as laughable.
The group questioned Bwala's credibility, given his previous criticisms of the current government led by President Tinubu. "Bwala has no moral authority to stand on, considering his previous description of the current government," the group said. They noted that Bwala's inability to win a state constituency election in Borno State further undermined his credibility.
The Arewa Youths highlighted Malami's significant contributions to the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the party's history would be incomplete without mentioning his name and role. "The APC itself has a history that is incomplete without mentioning the names and roles of Malami and others in the coalition," the Arewa Youths said.
The group called on youths in the country, particularly in the North, to disregard individuals who compromise their values for personal gain. They warned that they would resist any attempts to tarnish the hard-earned reputations of Malami and others by presidential media aides who continue to benefit from government coffers while Nigerians languish in poverty, insecurity, and unemployment.
The Arewa Youths urged Nigerians to reject the politics of bitterness and opportunism, and instead promote unity, peace, and development. They emphasized that the Northern Youths would not stand idly by while their leaders are attacked and maligned without justification.
The group reiterated their support for Malami and other leaders of the ADC coalition, and warned that they would not tolerate any further attacks on their integrity. The Arewa Youths Advocate for Peace and Unity Initiative called on Nigerians to stand with them in promoting a culture of respect, unity, and development.
The group's stance is a clear indication that the Northern Youths will not be swayed by divisive politics and will continue to stand by their leaders who have contributed significantly to the development of the country.
