CCAC's Misguided Attack on Mele Kyari and James Ume: Ayuba Hassan Sets the Record Straight"
Abuja, Ayuba Hassan, Convener of the Coalition of Nigeria Civil Society and Humanitarian Organizations, has described the statements made by Comrade Moses Okino Secretary of Concerned Citizens Against Corruption (CCAC) as baseless. The Coalition's reaction is in response to Okino recent allegations against Mele Kyari, former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Ayuba Hassan, stated that the allegations leveled against Mele Kyari are nothing but a desperate attempt to tarnish his hard-earned reputation for more than 3 decades in the industry. As the Convener of the Coalition, Hassan has come to know Mele Kyari as a dedicated and hardworking individual who made significant contributions to the oil and gas industry during his tenure at NNPCL.
According to Hassan, Mele Kyari implemented various initiatives that transformed NNPCL's operations and improved its efficiency. One notable achievement was the implementation of the NNPCL's 5-Point Agenda, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, increasing revenue, and promoting transparency. Under Kyari's leadership, NNPCL made significant progress in these areas, earning him recognition and respect within and outside the industry.
The Coalition strongly condemns CCAC's attempts to discredit Mele Kyari, describing Moses allegations as unfounded and lacking substance. Hassan urged Nigerians to disregard Moses Okino claims and focus on the facts about Mele Kyari's achievements and contributions to the oil and gas sector.
Mele Kyari's leadership style was characterized by transparency, accountability, and a commitment to excellence. He worked tirelessly to ensure NNPCL operated efficiently and effectively, and his efforts paid off in many ways. For instance, he played a key role in implementing the Dangote Refinery project, expected to revolutionize Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
The Coalition demands that Moses and his group retract their statement and apologize to Mele Kyari and High Chief (Dr) James Ume for harming their reputation. They also call on Nigerians to remain vigilant and demand accountability from those seeking to undermine progress in the oil and gas sector.
The group also commended High Chief (Dr) James Ume for being a strong pillar in the oil industry, who had supported the former GCEO Mele Kyari in achieving countless successes during his reign. They noted that Ume's expertise and guidance played a significant role in shaping the industry's progress and fostering a culture of excellence.
The Coalition praised Ume's leadership and commitment to the oil and gas sector, which had earned him respect and admiration from industry stakeholders. They expressed gratitude for his contributions and looked forward to his continued involvement in shaping the industry's future.
The Coalition reaffirms its support for Mele Kyari, citing his dedication and commitment to the oil and gas industry as evidence of his value to Nigeria's economic development .
