A NEW ERA OF PEACE: PLATEAU STATE YOUTHS UNITE AT IFTAR UNDER THE YOUTH ASSEMBLY OF NIGERIA (YAN)

In a remarkable demonstration of unity and commitment to peace, the youths of Plateau State convened for an *Iftar peace talk* organized by the *Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Plateau State chapter.* The event was marked by an atmosphere of optimism and resolve, as young participants pledged to become advocates for peace and architects of a brighter future.

Prayers were offered for the state and the nation, seeking divine guidance and protection. The Youth Ummahs expressed profound gratitude to the *Speaker, RT. Hon. Amb. Dazan innocent* , recognizing his initiative as a significant step toward fostering unity and social cohesion. They prayed for his continued wisdom and prosperity and reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to the Youth Assembly, the Plateau State government, and the nation at large.

The event featured a keynote address by *Ambassador Kyenpia Gaya Best* , who provided a thought-provoking reflection on Plateau State’s history, particularly before the 2001 crisis. She highlighted the devastating impact of the conflict while emphasizing the resurgence of hope and progress. Ambassador Best commended *Executive Governor Barr. Caleb M. Mutfwang* for his strategic and visionary approach to peace and security, inspiring a renewed sense of optimism among the youth. She further challenged young people to actively engage in public discourse, exercise their voices responsibly, and utilize the media to promote messages that serve the collective good of society.

In his remarks, *Activist. Nash Daya, Executive Director of Mission for the Vulnerable and Displaced Citizens (MIVUDI-CITIZENS),* reinforced the importance of sustained commitment to peace. He lauded the determination of the youths and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of harmony. Additionally, he commended the guest speaker for her steadfast dedication to youth empowerment and community service.

The response from youths across Plateau State was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting a deep commitment to fostering unity, peace, and harmonious coexistence. Participants embraced a paradigm shift—transcending religious, ethnic, and tribal boundaries in favor of a collective vision for progress and development.

As the event concluded, the Speaker urged the Youth Ummahs to embody peace in every facet of their lives, empowering them to drive meaningful change within their communities. He also announced the Assembly’s next strategic initiative: the launch of an *Agricultural Empowerment Program,* designed to equip young people with sustainable means of livelihood and economic stability—an essential pillar for long-term peacebuilding.

The Iftar gathering was a resounding success, signifying a major milestone in Plateau State’s ongoing journey toward peace, unity, and inclusive development.
