The need for the Northern legislators to rally round behind Hon. Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi bill to make Federal Government declare Bauchi State an Oil exploration and it will be in the Interest of the North and the nation in general.The member Representing the good people of Bauchi Federal Constituency Hon.Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi has sponsored a bill calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria to declared Bauchi State as an oil Producing State in the country.

The member has proven to be the Representative/legislator of the entire Bauchi,the North East and the North in general for been the face among the Nigerian legislators to raised this concern amidst Protest by oil producing States in Nigeria. The member makes this comments considering the roles that  the Oil and Gas played in the present Economic development of our Country and the future as they remain key to the implementation of budget at all level of Government.

He remind his colleagues to remember that on the 2nd February, 2019, President Muhamadu Buhari flags off the Spud-In of Kolmani River II well Drilling in Bauchi State and directed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to extend its exploration to six basins in the Country.The member is commended for this bold step and as it  it has become imperative to ascertain the fortunes at the disposal of the Federal Government.

His bills is coming at the time the country is working very hard to devisify the nation's economy even though the federal Government should hasten the process of Oil exploration as provided in the provisions of section 68, 238, 239, and 240 of the new Petroleum Industry Bill, 2021 just passed by the National Assembly in terms of the economic benefit the host communities stands to gain. 

The member has demonstrated high level of capacity and commitment by first of all sympathising by those affected community from whose location oil is discovered and or produced is entitled to a number of extra revenue which is special attention for the sake of its environment, infrastructure and health impact. His courageous stands of issues of National concerns are aim at making Bauchi State to start benefiting from the 13% derivation, the host communities incentives provided for by the law.

He emphasized that oil exploration in Bauchi State commenced in since 2018 and up till today it is still ongoing but no official report or information has been made known to the public on whether the exercise is a success or not and Nigerians, particularly the people of Bauchi State who are to benefit from the 13% derivation are anxiously waiting to witness the economic benefit.

He asked that the  Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) to invite the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation to give comprehensive representation on the level of work in the oil exploration currently undertaken in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State and the successes recorded so far in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State which commenced since 2018 . He also urge quick Legislative Compliance to ensue implementation.

The member Representing Bauchi federal Constituency has domonstrated high level of commitment in ensuring that the People of his Constituency,Bauchi State and North East benifits directly from his voice in the 9th house of Representatives. It is on this note that ,I commends and call on our legislators from the Northern region to support this very bill aim at making Bauchi State a direct benificiary of 13% oil derivation.
