NORTHERN GOVERNORS SHOULD COMPLEMENT FED. GOVT.TO END THE SECURITY CHALLENGES THROUGH COMM.POLICING : GABAM

As insecurity continue to worsen with increasing number of deaths and attacks in mostly communities that are not motorable then the incessant calls for the creation of state police is timely .

Nigerians have been clamoring for the creation of state police that will have the backing and support of the states by-laws and the constitutional provisions though many despite the challenges are affraid of the authocratic nature of most of the Nigerian state Governors.

On a personal note ,I am of the opinion that and I am in total support of the Northern state governors to fashion out how to end this killings in the North particularly North East and North West through community policing . This will greatly bring to an end of the incessant killings in the region that continue unabarterd despite federal government continues assurance of citizens safety as it is there was reported killings by Bbchausa this morning in Zanfara state.

We are all aware that towards the end of last week ,Mr President has issued a strong warning to the Nation top Security hirachy and a day after they service chiefs stormed Katsina State to meet Governor Masari to fashion out new strategies to end this violence but with the new report today from Zanfara state then there are a lot to do . The Northern Governors today has failed to organized themselves to face this challenges head on unlike what is obtainable in the past where the state Governors through their local government chairmen monitor and receive reports on the Security situations at the local governments while the local governments ensure Security of the local communities.

Unless and until we  return to the old system that we will never get it right because over dependency on federal government might remains a serious obstacles in combatting insurgency and bandtry in Northern Nigeria and beyond. It is high time that the Northern state Governors begin come up with something new that will complement the federal government efforts otherwise we will continue to read only from Security policies and Presidential matching orders that are far away from us .

There is no time that the North needs Constitutionally community policing than now .
