Yakubu Adamu: Economist & 2027 Governorship Aspirant

In the dynamic landscape of Bauchi State’s political and economic development, few names resonate with the blend of academic excellence, professional experience, and visionary leadership like Hon. Dr. Yakubu Adamu, the current Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development and a prominent aspirant for the 2027 Governorship race.

Born in Bauchi in 1980, Dr. Yakubu Adamu’s educational journey reflects a steadfast commitment to knowledge and leadership. He began his foundational education at Kofar Fada Primary School (1987–1992), followed by secondary education at Pilot Secondary School, Bauchi (1992–1995) and Government College, Toro (1995–1998).

His academic pursuit led him to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, where he earned a B.Tech in Business Management (2001–2006) and later a Master of Business Administration (2008–2013). 

He furthered his expertise with an MSc in Finance, Investment and Banking from the University of Reading, UK (2014–2016), and capped his academic journey with a PhD in Management from the International University Bamenda, Republic of Cameroon (2019).

However, with over 15 years of experience in the banking sector, Dr. Adamu has carved a niche in financial strategy and public sector engagement. His career began at City Monument Bank, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer (2008–2012). He then joined Skye Bank Plc Bauchi, rising through the ranks as Head of Retail (2012–2015) and Business Development Manager (2015–2019).

From 2019 to 2021, he led the Public Sector Northeast team at Polaris Bank Limited, and currently serves as the Business Development Manager for the bank’s Bauchi branch. His leadership has been instrumental in driving financial inclusion and fostering public-private partnerships across the region.

Appointed as Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Adamu has brought a wealth of private sector insight into public financial management. His tenure is marked by reforms aimed at fiscal transparency, investment promotion, and economic diversification in Bauchi State.

Furthermore, He is a Fellow of several prestigious institutions, including:
- Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered)
- Chartered Institute of Economics
- Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria
- Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management. 
- Member Of Association Of National Accountants of Nigeria

These affiliations underscore his commitment to professional excellence and ethical leadership.

As Bauchi looks toward the future, Dr. Yakubu Adamu emerges as a compelling candidate for the 2027 Governorship, bringing with him a vision rooted in economic empowerment, youth development, and institutional reform. His blend of academic rigor, banking expertise, and public service positions him as a transformative leader ready to steer Bauchi into a new era of prosperity after the tenure of His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed .

DRUG SHORTAGE CRISIS: NYCN DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY FROM FTH GOMBE
