June 12th : Gombe Youths Back Security Agencies

As the nation prepares to mark Democracy Day on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, various groups in Gombe State are calling on youths and students to support the security efforts in maintaining peace. The groups, comprising student leaders and community representatives, have expressed their appreciation for the tireless efforts of security agencies, including the DSS and the Nigerian Police, in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Gombe State.

In a joint press conference held recently, the groups, under the leadership of Usman Wakili, Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Gombe Axis, praised the security agencies for their dedication to duty. The statement was signed by several prominent student leaders, including Fatimah Malami of the Association of Female Students, Comrade Tabitha Babayo of the National Association of Female comrade , Mu'azu Hina of the Northern Leaders Forum, Muhammad Yarima Garba, Treasurer of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Mu'azu Madugu, Chairman of the SUG Presidential Forum Gombe State, Al'amin Muhammad, National President of Gombe State Students Association, and NANS Zonal excos 

The groups noted that the peace currently enjoyed in Gombe State and its environs should not be truncated. They emphasized the need for security agencies to flush out the "Yan Kalare" and phone searchers, who pose a threat to the state's peace. "We are enjoying a peace atmosphere in Gombe State, and it should not be truncated," they stated.

The student leaders called on security agencies to carry out drastic action against the "Kalare boys," whose menace is becoming increasingly worse. They urged the security agencies to take all necessary steps to ensure that peace is sustained in the state.

The student group has called on fellow students to boycott the June 12 protest, citing concerns that it is orchestrated by shadowy sponsors who aim to disturb the peace currently enjoyed in the state. They urged students to prioritize their academic calendars and avoid any activities that may compromise their safety and security.

While appreciating the security agencies for their efforts, the groups also urged students to stay calm and focus on their studies. "We are calling on students to stay calm and face their studies, and avoid anything that will distract their academic calendar," they stated.

The groups' call for continued support for security agencies is a testament to the importance of collaboration in maintaining peace and security. By working together, the people of Gombe State can ensure that the state remains safe and secure for all.
