Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Commends FG's Livestock Initiatives, Calls for Justice Among Citizens
From: Abubakar Hamza
Abuja, The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Fulani Socio-cultural Association has commended the Federal Ministry of Livestock's initiative to designate, gazette, and develop 415 grazing reserves across Nigeria. This move is seen as a strategic step in addressing challenges confronting Fulani herders.
In a statement, National President Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo and National Secretary Engr. Saleh Alhassan condemned the profiling of Fulani pastoralists by some media outlets and called for unbiased reporting on farmer-herder conflicts.
The association noted with dismay the continuous massacre of Fulani pastoralists by non-state actors and vigilantes, calling on the Inspector General of Police to set up a panel to investigate and bring perpetrators to justice.
The delegates applauded the National Security Adviser and Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence for adopting kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to address conflicts in the North-west.
They dismissed claims that farmer-herder conflicts are the major drivers of instability in Nigeria, attributing the issue to state-sponsored vigilantes and tribal hordes.
The association called for an overhaul of Nigeria's security and justice systems to address injustices faced by pastoralists and urged the government to ensure adequate funding for the Ministry of Livestock Development.
The meeting expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to livestock development and the welfare of pastoralists, and the delegates affirmed their loyalty to the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore.
